Good morning/night all... its morning as I write this on our last day in London. I really love this city although I have a sneaking suspicion that part of that love is for the weather so it may be just a little unfounded... but I'm getting all ahead of myself, I still haven't told you about yesterday, day 4...
Yesterday we went back to Westminster Abbey with the full intention to go inside and have a peek-a-boo... we didn't... mainly because both Eddy and I didn't really feel the need to spend 17 pounds for the privilege. So instead we had a little look at St Margaret's church, located next door which was pretty and free and a church... I'm sorry but after my last trip to Europe in 2005 I have kind of lost my love (if I ever had any) of pretty churches. So when they tell me I can't take pictures in them I tend to loose concentration.
But anyway, here we are at the side entrance...
and here is Eddy...
and this is one of the entrances to St Margaret's, although not the one we used...
AND... did you know, that one of Eddy's running friends is here in Sunny London too??? Well its true! So our next job of the day was to find her for Lunch. As she was at the Tate Modern having a bit of a laugh (understatement I tell you) we though we'd go over and see what all the fuss was about...
having caught the train across the Thames to London Bridge station we got kind of lost, and then we got ambushed by some guys with white faces and red gashes painted on, don't be alarmed though, they were working for a loca attraction "the London Bridge Experience" but they didn't take to "NO" all that well... but eventually, with the help of some locals (who from what we have heard were probably a little baffled that we had any interest in modern art - it seems to be a local joke) found the path leading to our destination. This is a picture of me being a homeless chick and sitting on the floor because there were no seats in the shade...
So we went to the Tate Modern, had a little laugh at the expense of the artists and headed off to find lunch... on the way we found the Globe Theatre - a replica of the theater's that used to house Shakespeare's plays...
Anywho, we went to lunch and ..... made an Earth shattering discovery, too bad I had made it the day before, but we will forgive her for that just this once... English fish and chips = not good... no matter what the English think of their fish and chips (and from everyone we have heard from they love it) it just doesn't compare with home.... Cod is probably on of the problems I have with it... I DO NOT LIKE COD!!!
Okay I'm sorry now but I'm going to have to cut this short because I'm running out of time...
We then went to St paul's cathedral... me...
Eddy...
The Catherdral...
We went inside and took some pics (because thats what people were doing and we couldn't see anything telling us not to) and eventually were told not too...
We then proceeded to climb the 528 steps to the golden gallery (which if you look at the picture of me infront of the cathedral, is right at the top of the pointy thing...
I quite enjoyed the top...
Eddy not so much...
but she was a good sport...
and I had a lot of fun mocking her fear of heights...
and then there were 2...
then it was shopping again... which if I talked about, would probably bore you to sleep. The one entertaining part is that Lulu refused to pay for the tube (our travel passes have really come in handy for this) and so walked all the way from St Paul's to Regent St (its not a short walk especially when you have been on your feet for days on end).
And thats pretty much it... we had dinner which was punctuated by a mass protest by Motorbikes against some motorbike parking tax (they were loud and there seemed to be millions of them...
and a very large group of rollerbladers... no Idea what that was about...
the end
lots of love and hugz
D.
