French Riviera - Avignon - Carcassone

Umm... to be honest I don't remember much of what happened this day... it was about a week ago, I was slack and didn't take many photo's, and as a result my memories have nothing to be jogged by...

There was some driving and for once our hotel was in the middle of the city centre of Carcassone (spelling?).

It was also Bastille day (spelling, France's national day) so the whole place was celebrating and we joined a random party/concert outside our hotel that started at about 11.30pm...

but the pic above is of a few of us having dinner during the celebrations... it was a sausage sizzle and all of us Aussies were in heaven... FOOD!!!!! :D

Lots of love and hugz

Florence to the French Riviera

Another day on the bus... yes I do realise that we have a lot of them but it is actually a really good way to see the counrtyside... at least thats what I'll keep telling myself... above is me sleeping so I'm not so sure I was making the most of the scenery there...

Here is "The Yellow Submarine"... yes THE yellow sub... from the song...
The day consisted of driving, eating stops on the side of the road, a trip to a perfumery in the South of France (eze I believe), and night time sight seeing in Monaco...

So this is a Cathedral on Monaco...

and here we are at a look out...

The same lookout, different angle... I like taking night time exposures... incase you hadn't noticed...

The view from our dinner resteraunt...

Again but with our tour guide...

and finally one of the Casino's in Monaco... we didn't go to this one in particular because the age to get in is 21 and they actually check and keep your passports, but there is another to the left of this pic that we snuck into... got bored... and left pretty quick... I really don't get the big deal...

hope you had fun...
lots of love and hugz.

Rome to Florence via Pisa

Another driving day...
Pisa was cool though...
see look I'm so strong...

so is Eddy...

and then it was dinner in the Tuscan countryside...
and here we get to the issue...
there was 'free' (as in we had already pre paid) alcohol (wine) all night so...
I decided it was time to keep up with the boys...
and we all got pretty sloshed...
I mean, when the waiter puts down another whole bottle of wine on the table at the end of the night you feel a little obligated...
I'll let you guess how the night ended...
the morning surprisingly enough was pain free...
and on the plus side I have finally learnt my limit...
and that there is not point drinking to excess when you don't enjoy the drink...
because it doesn't taste any better the second time around...
and always drink one glass of water with every standard drink.
Thankfully there were only two witnesses...
unfortunately Eddy was one of them...
and again thankfully there are no photo's...

Rome

Wow was today a whopper of a day....
look its a swiss guard!!!!

so very exhausting with the Vatican and Colosseum the main items of interest followed by a night of leisure...

and 5 of us went out for dinner and drinks... followed by cards...
and this is a pic of one of the amazing mozaics in St Peters where you can actually take pictures and use flash because there is no artwork and only mosaics with incredible details...

first it was interesting trying to order in another language when you have no idea what you are doing...
and then the Italians have an interesting idea of what a mixed drink is...
think a larger glass full of 90% vodka and 5% raspberry syrup...
and it was only 4 Euro's!!!!

I don't know if you understand me...
but that is cheaper than I can buy soft drinks at the moment!!!

lots of love and hugz

PS... sorry about the crappy format of this post but this web brouser is shitting me so i may or may not fix it later...

Venice to Rome via Assisi

Today we left the Venice area and made our way too Rome via Assisi...

It was another long bus day...

with more fantastic scenery...

although I must admit that I slept through most of it...

as did Eddy...

but in the end we had a quick taste of Rome before dinner and...

whilst I was absolutely starving (dinner was 9pm and lunch had been at 11am)...

at the same time I am just so excited to be in this historical city...

So tomorrow it is off to the Vatican and more Roman sites :D

Hope you enjoy the pics...

Lots of love and hugz
